Transport Connectivity

The ability to connect with almost 2 million people within a 60 minute journey and 33 million people within 4.5 hours, Sheffield’s location in the UK is a key advantage for businesses located here.

Air - The city has excellent air connections, with 5 international airports accessible within an hour’s travelling time.

Rail - Sheffield has direct access to all other major UK cities, with trains for the 2 hour journey to London running every 30 minutes. The Eurostar network via St Pancras provides high speed rail travel to Paris and Brussels.

Road - Sheffield is at the heart of the motorway network, providing easy access to all other major UK cities and key airports.

Sheffield also has one of the best transport networks in the UK. Our integrated public transport network brings together tram, bus and rail to ensure staff can move around the city with ease.

Digital Connectivity

Sheffield has an excellent digital infrastructure and is well served by the major telecoms carriers including BT, Virgin Media, C&W and Origin Broadband. The Superfast South Yorkshire programme is also investing in the city’s digital infrastructure through a £22 million project to increase the provision of ultrafast broadband.

In addition to this, Easynet, ASK4, Level 3 and SSE Telecom have all invested to develop infrastructure including points of presence in the city.
