Sheffield city region has fantastic internal and external transport links, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the world.

  • Air - The city has excellent air connections, with 5 international airports accessible within an hours travelling time; Doncaster Sheffield, Manchester, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Humberside.
  • Rail - Sheffield has direct access to all other major UK cities, with trains for the 2 hour journey to London running every 30 minutes. The Eurostar network via St Pancras provides high speed rail travel to Paris and Brussels.
  • Road - Sheffield is at the heart of the motorway network, providing easy access to all other major UK cities and key airports.

Within the city itself, the centre is well served by an interconnected public transport network.  There is a high usage of public transport as a mode of transport to work, especially where the workplace is in the city centre.  In addition to bus and train services, we are one of the few cities to have a tram as a key element of our public transport system.  Supertram is fast, reliable and clean, carrying over 36,000 people each day.

The average travel to work time in Sheffield is a mere 23 minutes and according to GVA Grimley's Transport Friendly Towns 2009, Sheffield is the least congested city in England and number 1 in transport provision terms.
