Digital firm finds platform for growth
16 November 2018
A Sheffield-based digital teaching business has grown by 25% in just one year – thanks to support from the Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project.
imoves, which provides an online platform full of PE lessons and activities for teachers, was keen to expand by improving its sales strategy and securing new funding. Looking for help to achieve these goals, they turned to the Enhancement Project, which is financed by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
imoves co-founders Imogen and Ian Pickles began working with Business Sheffield Key Account Manager, James Wilson, from the Project after the company won the 2017 ActiveLab prize – an initiative to find the most innovative small tech company that is increasing physical activity.
Support from James included a broad range of strategic reviews, networking opportunities and marketing refinements including advising the business on how to access financial support, introducing them to Sheffield Hallam University - who have since worked on two projects with the company - and recommending the business attend a social media Masterclass provided by the Project to help future campaigns.
Ian said: “James did an excellent job to help us. My background is in pharmaceuticals and with Imogen being a trained teacher, neither of us had any experience of running a small business when we started in 2010.
“imoves has grown by 25% since accessing this support and I would certainly recommend it to any small business with ambition to grow.”
The Enhancement Project provides businesses with intensive one-to-one support from a Key Account Manager and access to free Masterclasses delivered by private sector experts.
