Art Exhibition, Tue 18 Jul 2017 - Sat 3 Mar 2018, free entry
This new display at the Graves Gallery showcases a series of 21 line engravings illustrating the biblical story of Job by visionary, poet and artist, William Blake.
Created in 1826, the engravings were commissioned by his friend, the artist John Linnell and depict Job's faith being tested by Satan. Blake was repeatedly inspired by the Book of Job, viewing Job’s trials and eventual spiritual rebirth as parallel to his own creative struggles.
