Opened in 1971 and refurbished as part of the Crucible's £15.3 million redevelopment programme, the Studio Theatre has a capacity of up to 400. Its flexible design allows the seating to be adjusted to play on two or three sides or in the round. Winner of the 2002 Peter Brook Empty Space Award, the Studio hosts a mix of small-scale in-house and touring productions, and is also home to the acclaimed Ensemble 360's tri-annual Music in the Round Festival.

A drop off point for customers with access difficulties is available on Tudor square and allows direct access to both Crucible and Lyceum buildings. Entrance to the drop off point is via Surrey Street and is available from 1 ½ hours before the performance.
There are eight disabled parking spaces available on Surrey Street outside the library and a further two on Norfolk Street. These are unreserved and operate on a first come, first served basis.
