The Snowman with live orchestra

Experience the magic of The Snowman and The Bear and The Piano film this December, brought to life with a big screen and live orchestra. The beautiful score, composed by Howard Blake, includes the evocative ‘Walking in the Air’, made famous by Aled Jones. It proved an immediate hit and subsequently became a heart-warming perennial favourite, delighting audiences of all ages and providing the soundtrack to every child’s Christmas.

The concert will open with a toe-tapping Christmas Medley followed by a fun introduction to the orchestra. All the instruments are presented in a fun and approachable way, offering the young audience members the valuable experience of seeing – and hearing – the instruments individually. Following this there will be an exclusive film of David Litchfield Illustration's The Bear and the Piano.

This beautifully-illustrated tale of music, friendship and adventure was first brought to the big screen in 2017, in a specially commissioned version by Carrot Productions which captures the essence of the original. With music by Daniel Whibley played live by a professional orchestra, and a narration recorded by superstar Joanna Lumley this entrancing creation looks set to become a family favourite for the next generation. The Snowman film will then be projected onto the screen, accompanied by a local child soloist singing the timeless “Walking In The Air”, and the Picture House Orchestra playing the iconic score live in perfect synchrony with the film.
