Theatre Delicatessen Present Home by Hikapee Theatre
HOME is a daring outdoor circus piece, weaving together slapstick comedy with breathtaking aerial, acrobatic and physical performances to explore what itis to create a ‘home’. This is a production split into two sections, a 25-minute physical performance and an interactive installation open for 15-30 minutes.
In the physical performance section, the audience surrounds the house and watch as the four characters busily get to work. What first emerges as a basic scaffolding structure transforms through the performance into a full ‘house’ consisting of a roof, walls and even a working light with brilliantly simple and effective designs.
The performers then invite the audience inside for their ‘house warming’ and offer refreshing lemonade and biscuits to all the visitors. At this time, throughout the house are video installations telling stories of those people who have helped inspire HOME and the audience are invited to write on the walls of the house, giving their ideas of what makes a home.
HOME is accessible to everybody no matter their nationality, age or background. By using brilliantly catchy music and physical performance, HOME opens the imaginations of children and adults alike to the ideas of house, shelter and what it means to invite someone into your home.
