Late-night bowling venue announces Sheffield launch date

05 December 2019

Boutique bowling chain Lane7 will be providing "a grown-up bowling and entertainment venue like no other" when they open the doors to their new Sheffield venue next week, on Saturday 14 December.

The 20,000sq ft location, just off The Moor on Matilda Street, promises an unrivalled late-night experience, with nine lanes of tenpin bowling being the foundation of a wide range of games available.

Lane7 says the Sheffield site will also feature baseball-style batting cages, dart boards, ping pong, pool and beer pong tables, all created alongside an extensive bar and eclectic menu from award-winning street food specialists, Fat Hippo. The venue has an upgraded sound system and owners say they want to look into giving the city’s emerging DJs a platform on Friday and Saturday nights.

Owner, Tim Wilks says: “This has been a long time in the planning. We’ve been desperate to bring Lane7 to Sheffield for so long and now we can finally get the doors open. Lane7 offers a city centre bowling experience like no other. Our site in Sheffield is definitely one of the most exciting we’ve created.

“The space has enabled us to bring together the very best in grown up entertainment and pair that with a great late-night drinking and dining experience. Sheffield has an amazing night time scene. This is a city that knows how to have a good time and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”

There has been substantial investment in transforming the site, which is just yards from The Light complex on The Moor, into a contemporary, city-centre bar, diner and entertainment venue. Lane7 aim to employ up to 30 full and part-time staff once fully open.

Lane7 launched in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2014 and has since expanded into cities across the UK including Birmingham, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Middlesbrough. The brand is synonymous with creating alternative entertainment into cool late-night attractions. Its other sites across the UK feature shuffleboards, retro arcades, ultraviolet ping pong and private karaoke booths alongside bowling.

Lane7 will be open seven days a week 11am until late. For more information and to book visit www.lane7.co.uk
