Markets and Craft Fairs move online to Support Sheffield Makers
19 November 2020
It’s normally this time of year that Sheffield plays host to a whole load of Christmas market events and craft fairs, offering a wealth of opportunity to pick up fantastic unique products by local producers.
Of course, things are a bit different this year and the physical versions of these events have unfortunately had to be cancelled in line with government restrictions.
However, a host of event organisers have got creative themselves so that independent makers and crafters don't miss out on the crucial trade these events offer to them.
We’ve rounded up the events we know about so far, so don’t miss your opportunity to bag some amazing products and support our local independent makers, artists and crafters. See a rundown of events below and please note some of these events are time limited...
Yorkshire Artspace- Online Open Studios

The Yorkshire Artspace annual Open Studios event is a unique showcase for a plethora of amazing artists and makers. In the absence of a physical event, organisers hoping to capture some of what makes Open Studios so special by using their online platforms this year. You’ll still be able to meet the makers with Artist Spotlights, view their art in an online gallery, buy artwork and take part in activities via pre-recorded video demonstrations and talks.
Etsy Sheffield: Online Christmas Market

Etsy’s Sheffield makers come together each year to collectively host a market, normally in one the city’s notable venues. There will be a directory of all the sellers taking part with links to their shops and social media, live and pre-recorded videos from the sellers with behind the scenes chats and guided tours of their studios. The Fair is even laid out in online aisles, the same way it would be normally, so you can stroll it virtually.
Sharrow Vale Virtual Market
In the absence of the actual event, Sharrow Vale Market organisers have set up a webpage with details for all the stallholders online, so you can peruse, get lots of ideas for unique gifts and visit the stallholders’ websites to purchase products direct.
Chatsworth Christmas Market
One of the biggest regional Christmas Market events takes place just over the border from Sheffield at Chatsworth House, normally. However, like all large scale market events Chatsworth had to cancel but they’ve also taken the event online.
