Business Leaders invited to football première

The city’s business heads are being invited to a champagne reception and the inaugural screening of a documentary that chronicles the story of a tournament that celebrates the heritage of Sheffield football through the stars of the future.


There’ll join former England football internationals and world renowned referees at the University of Sheffield next month for the unveiling of plans for the second year of the Youdan Trophy.


Next year’s competition is set to triple in size and the University of Sheffield event is encouraging businesses to back the event which is aiming to become the biggest and most prestigious competition of its type in Europe.


The determination to put Sheffield back at the centre of the international game is felt right across the city: Sheffield City Council, University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University are all key partners in the development of the Youdan Trophy as are Meadowhall shopping centre.


Teams from as far away as the Far East, Australia, Europe and the USA look set to join a number of Premiership clubs at the tournament that is lined up for August next year. Liverpool, Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Crystal Palace and both Sheffield Wednesday & Sheffield United are just some of the names you’re likely to see.


Sheffield-based, which is the world's leading independent authority and education platform for match officials, are behind the creation of the tournament.


The Youdan Trophy 2016  unveiling and documentary screening is set to take place 6pm on Tuesday, November 10th at the University of Sheffield’s contemporary event and dining facility, Inox Dine. The event is being co-sponsored by the University of Sheffield and Marketing Sheffield.
