Calling small businesses with big ambitions to free Business Sheffield event
22 October 2015
Small businesses with big ambitions are invited to a free event in Sheffield City Centre to network with other small business owners, learn about Small Business Saturday and the support available through Business Sheffield.
The event launches a month of activity in the run up to Small Business Saturday which aims to raise the profile of small businesses and encourage consumers to shop locally.
The event takes place from 8 to 9am on Wednesday 4 November at Sheffield Town Hall.
Councillor Leigh Bramall, cabinet member for Business, Skills and Development at Sheffield City Council, explains: “Small Business Saturday is about celebrating the success of small business, ensuring that they have good access to services like those provided through Business Sheffield and reminding consumers to support their own communities by shopping locally. By hosting this event for Sheffield’s small business community we aim to raise the profile of Sheffield’s small businesses and to launch a month of action ahead of Small Business Saturday.”
At the Town Hall launch event attendees will learn about the unique programme of Small Business Saturday workshops running throughout November.
Business Sheffield has teamed up with five small business ambassadors to deliver a series of workshops in five densely populated ‘small business districts’ within the city. The workshops, which will cover topics such as marketing and using social media well, are to be held in the business premises of the ambassadors, to strengthen and build on the relationships within these communities.
East Patel is a Dispensing Optician and owner of Eyefinity on Chesterfield Rd, Sheffield and will be hosting one of the Business Sheffield Small Business Saturday workshops. Mr Patel said: “It’s really important that small businesses work together to share customers, make referrals and understand ways that we can support each other. A main aim of Small Business Saturday is to encourage businesses within communities to work together to grow the retail and services offerings locally. I might be a small business but I have big ambitions to grow, to take on employees and diversify our service – I’m working with Business Sheffield to do this.”
