Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust are thrilled to have Helen Wilson from Little Puddle People leading a family nature walk (with fun and learning along the way) around the magical Wyming Brook Nature Reserve.
Helen, a qualified forest school practitioner, will guide you on this walk adding a little fun for everyone from mindfulness, identification of flora and fauna, folklore, storytelling, songs and games it’s sure to be a unique experience to add to your 30 Days Wild calendar.
This walk is 2.7 km and follows the main Wyming Brook drive – an old, cobbled track originally created for hunting access, before descending towards Rivelin reservoir.
We will then head back up the valley along the cascading waterfalls of Wyming Brook; scrambling over boulders, crossing bridges over the bubbling water, and taking in this incredible landscape.
We will finish at a great picnic and paddling spot just below the car park.
Although the total route distance is short, the terrain in places is challenging. We plan to stop for fun and activities along the way, therefore it will take us approximately 2.5 hours.
Please dress appropriately for the weather – Wear grippy shoes such as walking boots, suncream/sun hats etc. Please bring a snack and water bottle as there will be a planned snack stop around half way.
We will be back at the car park between 12 and 12.30pm where there is a fantastic picnic and paddling spot. You can leave your lunch and a towel/change of clothes in an extra bag in your car to grab on our return.
