Birmingham Passage is an interdisciplinary arts production inspired by layered stories of migration linked to the Windrush generation and the stories and origins of the artists who will be presenting this unique work.
The project aims to portray the different generations of passage into a place and how migration can bring a new perspective for both sides of the lens, as well as layers of cultural and transcendent energies.
With Birmingham as the focal point, this production celebrates what makes Birmingham a rich tapestry of communities.
Birmingham Passage was a product of a commission by Celebrating Sanctuary and the Feeney Trust for Germa Adan and Xhosa Cole to develop a new body of work through collaboration.
This collaboration resulted in a production consisting of 7 performers, theatrical moments, and bodies of musical work in response to stories, Windrush stories archives, folk melodies, and artists' identities/backgrounds.
