Learn how to deflt cast a piece of jewellery or metalwork.
Delft casting is a wonderful casting process that is very useful for creating one off pieces or making a cast from a found object. You will melt scrap or grain silver and pour it into a mould that you will learn to make. You may bring your own scrap or old jewellery with you as long as it is hallmarked (silver is fine, please contact us beforehand if you wish to work in gold).
There will be some objects you can use or you can bring something along with you. (Not all object are suitable but please bring what you have and it can be assessed on the day) We’ll teach you how to prepare your mould and model and then safely cast the piece you have chosen. You will then be taught how to clean your casting and we’ll help you turn it into a finished piece – be it a pendant, ring or something else.
At the end of the day you’ll leave with at least one cast piece of jewellery or trinket – unique to you. You will have time to create a gorgeous piece of jewellery for yourself, whilst also meeting some lovely like minded people who are all feeling inspired to learn a new hobby and get creative.
This is a full day class starting at 10am and finishing around 4.30/5pm. You’ll have around 30 mins to pop out for some lunch. The cost of your silver is not included in the workshop price and you’ll be charged depending on how much stock silver you wish to use. Typically this can be around £5-20 depending on your design.
On booking, you will receive an email with all the additional information you need (including how to get to the studio and contact details for your tutor).
