Jack and Eve: Two Women in Love and at War

26 Jun 2024 18:00 - 19:30

Join author Wendy Moore on Wednesday 26 June as she discusses her new book on the lives of two queer women in World War One.

Vera Holme, known as Jack, and Evelina Haverfield met in 1908, fell in love, lived together, and became public faces of the suffragette movement, enduring prison and doing everything they could for the cause.

Determined to be themselves, ‘forthright, flamboyant and proud’, Wendy Moore uses their story as a lens through which to view the suffragette movement, the work of women in WWI and the development of lesbian identity throughout the twentieth century.
