Out & About is a summer programme of celebrations in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter (CIQ), held across a series of four special weekends.

Freshly Squeezed

Freshly Squeezed is a two day festival of live music and workshops taking place in CIQ Square (pictured above) programmed by and for young people featuring a selection of the most talented young musicians and producers in the city.

The Saturday will be programmed by Pattern + Push, a leading talent competition and mentoring programme for aspiring rappers and singers aged 13+ years in South Yorkshire.

The Sunday will be programmed by DINA and their Young Producers. They will also be launching a new collaborative zine made in collaboration with Andro and Eve and Site Gallery’s Society of Explorers.

Weekend Event Programme 

Pattern + Push Showcase
Saturday, 12pm - 9pm in CIQ Square
Throughout Saturday, the stage will be programmed by Pattern + Push, a leading talent competition and mentoring programme for aspiring rappers and singers focussing on positive lyrics and empowerment through music. Expect to see DJs and performances from some of the most exciting young Sheffield MC’s, rappers and singers including Rumbi Tauro, JxK, Aziza Jaye, Chozen_1ne, Rainz and special guest from BBC 3’s legendary talent show The Rap Game, Lady Ice! Dj’s will include a hot mix of Sheffield’s Bubbling underground inc Hope Works resident MYNA.


DINA Young Producers 'Pride & Joy'
Sunday, 12pm - 8pm in CIQ Square 
On Sunday, it’s the turn of DINA’s Young Producers to programme the stage. The Young Producers programme is led by Sheffield based creative organisation DINA, and offers a small group of aspiring producers the chance to learn, develop their skills as well as having practical experience of delivering events. The programme is focused on supporting people between the ages of 18 - 30 and who are LGBTQ+, female or non binary. Sunday’s programme of performances, titled Pride & Joy, brings together a mixture of acts, including House of Apex, DJ’s Melly D & Stephanie from FLAW Collective and Teah Lewis.

'Fresh Air' by Andro & Eve with The Society of Explorers
Saturday & Sunday, at multiple locations
Andro and Eve, are an organisation based here in Sheffield who stage memorable events that celebrate Queer culture. Through a series of collaborative workshops with The Society of Explorers, Site Gallery’s Young People’s programme, they have produced a brand new Zine titled Fresh Air. The Explorers took part in gender awareness training and made creative responses including poems, drawings and recipes that aim to highlight and raise awareness of issues faced by the Queer community. The zine will be available in Bloc Projects, Yorkshire Artspace and Site Gallery.

Listen 52: Chol Theatre
Saturday, 12pm - 6pm in Site Gallery Studio 
Prepare to be jolted awake in the year 2052 as a group of young people in the future are initiated into Sheffield's Mainframe. You will join the annual honorary ceremony to witness this year's new recruits being plugged in and switched off from individual expression. The audience will witness a significant glitch that could change not only the future, but also the past 30 years for Sheffield's Youth. Join Chol Theatre and an extraordinary cast of young people to watch this youth-led theatre performance funded by Arts Council England.

Murals across the CIQ
Saturday & Sunday, all day at various locations
This summer, the CIQ will become awash with a series of brand new murals painted directly onto the walls of some of the most iconic building in the area. Expect to see brand new vibrant work by nationally and internationally recognised artists right here on your doorstep. Use the map to discover and explore!


Communal Furniture Commission
Saturday 12pm-9pm & Sunday, 12pm - 8pm, at CIQ Square 
Come and explore a brand new adaptable furniture commission produced as a collaboration between two architecture and design studios, McCloy + Muchemwa and Mitre & Mondays. Relax, meet friends, grab a bite to eat and even take part in one of our workshops around this brand new piece of outdoor furniture.

CIQ Family Trail
Saturday & Sunday, all day from CIQ Square 
Pick up your free family trail, complete with a CIQ treasure hunt and colouring activities for all ages -specially created by Eleven Design.
