Park Hill Tour - Walk the Streets in the Sky

17 Jun 2023 13:00 - 14:30

Park Hill has been a visible landmark on the Sheffield skyline for over 60 years.

It is considered of international importance due to being the first built example of external access decks (known as Streets in the Sky) and was awarded Grade II* listing in 1998.

There followed a regeneration scheme, the first phase being shortlisted for the Stirling prize for architecture in 2013, which continues today.

It is also culturally prominent, having featured in film, tv, music, artworks and on stage.

Park Hill Residents’ Association invite you on this 90 minute, resident-led tour to walk along the Streets in the Sky, exploring the 3 stages of its redevelopment and seeing how they differ.

You will learn about the history of Park Hill, its celebrated (and lesser known) architectural details and gain an insight into life here today.

Outside the building, you will enjoy the courtyard gardens in bloom and find out about the sculpture, mosaics and street art around the estate.

And there will be plenty of opportunities to take in the expansive views so remember to bring your camera as well as your head for heights!
