The biggest little race is back once again! After a bumper return for the 10th anniversary race last year, Peaty’s Steel City Downhill is back for 2023, on Saturday 16 September.
2022 brought a fresh new track and the most belting weather organisers have ever had for race day, so here’s hoping for one of those fine Autumn days for their new later date, which accommodates this year’s crop of world championships.
A race for everyone, they have categories for young and old, male and female, seasoned racer or first timers.
Entries for the race went live on Wednesday 16 August and filled up fast, but for more info about entering see the Steel City Series Eventbrite Page here.
For spectators, the finish bowl will have all the party vibes and is a great spot for seeing racers finishing their run. Once again they'll have coffee and food stalls, Trail Ale from Bradfield Brewery and the great atmosphere that the biggest little race has become known for!
Peaty’s Steel City Downhill is a mini downhill race held annually in Greno Woods Sheffield. It has been running since 2011 and raising money to fund trail building and maintenance in the woods ever since.
Organised by Steel City Series, in partnership with Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and with support from Ride Sheffield, this is a 'not for profit' race with everyone volunteering their time and all proceeds reinvested in the woods.
With 200 racers and thousands of spectators the woods are transformed for a day bringing an atmosphere unlike any other race. With racers from 10 to 70 years old it is a very inclusive and family friendly event with Mums and Dads racing alongside their kids. 2014 actually saw more women racing than any other UK race.
The race is well supported by local, national and international sponsors making sure all winners of the race, competitions and auctions are rewarded very well.
