Sheffield Armed Forces and Veterans Day

22 Jun 2024 11:00 - 15:00

Join the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Jayne Dunn, veterans, forces personnel and cadets on Saturday 22 June to celebrate Armed Forces and Veterans Day.

Watch the veterans parade and ceremony, tap your toes and sing along to the Ashby Big Band as they transport us back in time with wartime classics and some dance floor favourites and see the forces display stands and find out more about cadets, the armed forces and the armed forces covenant.

Armed Forces and Veterans Day honours the outstanding contribution made by current members of the armed forces and by veterans of all ages. The day is an opportunity for us all to join together to pay tribute to our armed forces past, present and future.

This year’s event marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and provides a poignant opportunity to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who lost or risked their lives and to reflect upon the human cost of conflict.

As war and conflict continue in Ukraine and the Middle East we hold onto hope for a more peaceful world and commemorate the service and sacrifice of all those who risk their lives to help keep us safe and allow us to maintain our freedom.
