Were any Black figures born in, and life-time residents of, Sheffield? How did Sheffield respond to slavery, empire and any Black presence in Sheffield?
The tour will consider the legacy of these aspects on the city. You’ll discover the lives and stories of remarkable figures including Olaudah Equiano, Pablo Fanque and Ida B. Wells, as well as groups who supported runaway slaves and businesses such as The Sheffield Register.
The walk will start at Weston Park Museum and end at the Graves Gallery in Sheffield city centre.
