Sheffield's Winston Hazel is a pioneering electronic DJ and producer with a career spanning over 40 years. He is a crucial part of Sheffield's underground music scene and culture, from helping to popularise house music in clubs like Jive Turkey in the mid-eighties, to defining the sound of bleep techno as part of Forgemasters, to being a part of our underground party culture via Kabal today.
Winston will be talking about his career as the Central Library is currently hosting an exhibition celebrating his work. Beyond the Bassline is an exploration of 500 years of Black British Music and is a collaboration with the British Library.
