Costume and Prop Display in the Winter Garden

A display of special costumes and props, with live events in the Winter Garden: 17 - 25 September, 8am - 6pm (10am - 5pm Sundays).

The true story of Jamie Campbell is an inspirational one.

And it’s the inventive nature of Sheffield’s creative scene that has truly brought it to life – firstly on stage premiering at the Crucible Theatre in February 2017, and now on screen brought to you by Sheffield based production company Warp Films – allowing us all to celebrate what it stands for as well as the technicolour world it represents.

Welcome – not just to the world of Jamie, but to a glimpse into what Sheffield makes for the world to enjoy.

This up close and personal display features four outfits worn by Max Harwood who plays Jamie Campbell in the film, as well as a dress and wig worn by Hugo’s iconic drag persona Miss Loco Chanelle, played on screen by Richard E.Grant. We’ve also included the black dress Jamie actually wore when attending his high school prom (as featured in the original documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 on BBC Three).

Remember to use #JamieSheff to share your selfies!

We also have some special events taking place throughout the week the display is open:

Friday 17th September, 16:00 - 18:00

DJ set with Gut Level in The Winter Garden to build the excitement for the premiere over the road!

Gut Level Sheffield is a queer led DIY event space and collective that focuses on dance music, club culture and the surrounding communities. Primarily based around workshops and events, their activity focuses on giving a platform to individuals who are underrepresented in the music industry, namely queer/LGBTQ+ women and non-binary people.

Fan art from the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie fan club

Some of the fans of Everybody's Talking About Jamie have got together to share their stories, from when they first saw the original show at the Crucible Theatre, to the way the @ETAJamieFans twitter account was created and their excitement about the movie. Photographs and fan art will be on display to chart Jamie's journey from Sheffield to the West End and beyond.

Live Q&A with Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Producer Mark Herbert and some of the cast from Jamie’s Year 11 class!

Come and hear from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie producer and Warp Films’ joint CEO Mark Herbert about the making of the film, the role Sheffield had to play in its creation and all things Jamie, and meet some of the local cast members who brought it all to life. The Q&A will be held outside the rear of the winter Garden in Millennium Square (the Peace Gardens side), unless the weather forces us to move inside in which case there may be crowd limitations due to the nature of the Winter Gardens being an indoor venue.

Funded by Sheffield City Council, Sheffield BID, and Amazon Prime Video.
With special thanks to Kerry Campbell for designing the display, Warp Films for donating the costumes and making it happen, and Mercure Hotel for helping store some stuff.
