Get moving with Move More

Move More is a whole systems approach to creating a culture of physical activity in Sheffield. The ultimate aim is to help create the conditions to make it easier for people to be more active and move a little more. With a focus on six areas; communities, environments, health and social care, pupils and schools, sport and workplaces.

It has been in operation since 2012 and is a strategy and brand which is driven by the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine, Sheffield (NCSEM) as part of the London 2012 Olympic Legacy Programme.

Move More has established principles and values through which we want to stimulate change.  These have shifted attention away from purely focussing on ‘interventions’ that might drive participation in sports or exercise to the ways of working, distribution of power and the structural, environmental and cultural conditions that might help people become more active.

Our research hub is at The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, the most advanced research and development centre for health and physical activity in the world, with a mission to prevent and treat chronic disease through co-designed research into physical activity.

We will be sharing more from Move More in January 2021 with the launch of their new website! Keep your eyes peeled.
