Elm is a natural wine bar & shop. They also serve lunches, weekend brunches and evening meals.
The lunch menu revolves around seasonal, british produce prepared with the influence of their favourite wine producing countries and accompanied by a tidy selection of wines by the glass, fizz or coffee. On a daily basis they write up specials and desserts on the blackboard.
At weekends Elm like to start on the fizz early. They’ll crack open some bottles of prosecco col fondo, and maybe a couple of pet-nats, to wash down fritters and eggs.
From 5pm they kick off our pizza menu. Dough made fresh every day using organic Shipton Mill flour, their own recipe homemade sauce, classic mozzarella and a changing selection of seasonal toppings. There is vegan cheese too for plant based folk.
Alongside the pizzas they serve a small range of simple (but delicious) bar snacks. A changing selection of charcuterie and cheeses, bread and butter, anchovies.. you get the idea.
The wine ethos at Elm is simple. They like to call it natural wine, you may have heard of it as low intervention. The gist is wine reflective of it's terroir, made by producers working organically, bio-dynamically and with the least amount of intervention possible between the grapes and the bottling. These wines are spontaneous, fun and to be enjoyed on all occasions (breakfast included).
Any of the bottles on the shelves are available to takeaway, or drink in. On a day to day basis they'll open a few bottles to pour by the glass depending on the mood, the weather, or just what's exciting them right now.
Those signature cinnamon buns from their sister site Upshot are available on Saturday and Sunday. Throughout the rest of the week they have a selection of homemade treats, along with some of their neighbour Box Bakery’s goodies. Pete at Box Bakery also does all of their bread fresh every day for the lunch menu and evening bar snacks.
Elm make their coffee to the same exacting standards as their sister-store, Upshot. The batch brew changes weekly, using roasters from all over the UK and Europe, whilst the espresso is roasted by the glorious Girls Who Grind Coffee and served with local Our Cow Molly milk, or Oatly m*lk alternative.
