Sheffield-Made Spirits

In need of festive spirit? There are some great products blended and distilled right here in the city, to suit all palettes and pockets. True North Brew Co’s Sheffield Dry Gin is a well-established favourite, especially with their flavourful selection of special editions, including Spiced Fig and Victoria Plum or Marmalade, but if you simply can’t choose they also do some great taster gift sets. Another artisan local gin is Sir Robin of Locksley Gin, who also offer some fantastic making and tasting experiences for the ultimate gin fan. In addition to more standard varieties, the Sheffield Distillery produce all kinds of concoctions including flavoured gins, cocktails and their own take on Limoncello, Clemencello. Kelham Island restaurant JÖRO, also lend their skill with flavour to produce limited edition, small batch gins, such as their Winter edition. Locally Brewed Beer

Sheffield has an international reputation for brewing brilliant beer and if you're shopping for a beer aficionado, we have a whole separate guide dedicated to highlighting the bottle shops and breweries where you can buy a taste of the scene. With so many to choose from though, we thought we’d also highlight a few of the festive special editions available.

Bradfield Brewery’s Belgian Blue has become seasonal tradition for many across the city, with its signature berry overtones. St Mars of the Desert’s fun festive editions are unique each year, but often nod to Belgian-styles and are highly sought after- they’re already sold out on their own website, but you may still find them at one of the city’s beer shops such as Hope Hideout. If you like your beer a little lighter, Little Mesters’ Red’Un is a festive IPA, while Brew Foundation’s Ale I Want For Christmas is an orange spiced pale. Lots of local breweries are also doing special gift sets and taster packs, such as Little Critters, Abbeydale Brewery, Triple Point Brewery and Kelham Island Brewery to name just a few. For some beer-related reading, Meze Publishing have recently brought out their Sheffield Beer and Spirits Bible,  available from lots of online retailers, but also from many of the beer shops such Turners Bottle Shop.
