40 Yellow Bikes, 40 Yellow Flags & 40 Days to go

27 May 2014

It’s now only 40 days to go until the world’s largest annual sporting event The Tour de France , Grand Depart races into Sheffield on Sunday 6th July.

The race is forecast to be watched by around 250,000 spectators who will line the Sheffield stage from Midhopestones to the finishing line at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.

To celebrate Sheffield City Council has today announced that 40 bright yellow recycled bikes and 40 eye-catching flags are being made available to display along the route and are inviting people to come forward with the most visible and creative locations.

The bikes have been provided by Recycle Bikes at Heeley Development Trust who also run bike maintenance and loan programmes as part of the Sheffield Cycleboost initiative. The bikes and flags are free to a good home, you just need to say why you should have one and where you’re going to display it.

You may live on the Stage 2 Sheffield route of the race and want to put it outside your house, you might want to display outside your school, in your shop window or on the front of your business- the more visble your location the better.
