New art gallery to open in Forum Arcade
12 August 2020
A new gallery concept showing and selling the work of Sheffield contemporary artists is set to open in the Forum Arcade on Deveonshire Street in the city centre.
Tucked away behind the Forum Bar and Kitchen, the shopping arcade has housed a number of unique and quirky independent businesses for over 25 years and will make space for Artcade to present a dedicated program of brand new solo exhibitions from a wide range of artists.
During these unprecedented times, Artcade will also be a welcome support for artists to develop and showcase their creative practice. Twelve Sheffield Artists will work in the space over twelve months, experimenting and expanding their output, to create exciting exhibitions.
All artwork will be available for sale, from original paintings and drawings to prints and reproductions. There will be something for every aspiring collector or art fan.
The first artist to open the space will be Oli Frape with his exhibition “Summer of Love’. Created against a backdrop of social distancing and a divisive political climate, this brand new collection of works celebrates unity, positivity and openness by using bold colours and optimistic language from the summers of our past.
Oli has spent the last decade crafting a career as a commercial lettering artist leading him to work with prolific global brands including Absolut Vodka, AMEX, VW, The Guardian and Mercedes Benz.
Oli Frape’s ‘Summer of Love’ exhibition opens on the evening of the Friday 28 August and will be on view till the end of September.
Public access to Artcade will be every Saturday 10am - 6pm. For private viewings, any questions or to arrange interviews with the featured Artists please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
