Doc/Fest kick off autumn events with Into the World Weekender

30 September 2020

Sheffield Doc/Fest have revealed the full line-up of screenings for the first instalment of their series of autumn weekenders. Taking place from Friday 2 October through to Sunday 4 October, the ‘Into the World’ weekender will be screening both live and online.

Live screenings will take place at the Showroom Cinema over the weekend, while most titles in the programme can also be seen in parallel on the festival’s online platforms until Thursday 15 October.

The theme, ‘Into the World’, is a strand about all of us and encompasses a selection of films that take varied approaches to exploring our past, present and collective future.

Journeying around the Earth, the films will allow viewers to encounter people, their fights, their fears and their stories. From China to Canada and Argentina, from England to France, from the Philippines to Thailand, from Angola to the former Soviet Union, these films search, investigate, ask questions, show and testify contemporary local and global struggles, remembering and learning from past battles in order to be ready for new fights.
