Sheffield will be front and centre of the biggest women’s European sporting event in history, after being hand-picked as one of nine host cities for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 this summer.

Our Home of Football story will come into play when Bramall Lane, home to Sheffield United and the oldest professional stadium still in use today, will host four matches throughout the tournament:
Netherlands vs Sweden, 9 July (8pm)
Sweden vs Switzerland, 13 July (5pm)
Switzerland vs Netherlands, 17 July (5pm)
& Semi-Final Match, 26 July (8pm).

Roadshow kicks off in Sheffield
A national roadshow celebrating UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 is set to kick off in Sheffield on Saturday 21 May, as excitement builds ahead of the tournament.
Featuring live music from local artists and a showpiece football pitch, alongside the opportunity to get a picture with the trophy itself, each event will provide a variety of fun for all the family.

A series of cultural, heritage and educational programmes are underway in Sheffield to help make the most of all the opportunities that the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 brings to the city and its communities.
Arts & Cultural Programme
Arts Council England has awarded £800,000 to UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 in England to run an exciting arts and cultural programme alongside the tournament.
The arts programme is an amazing opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future of the women’s game in Sheffield and hopes to establish female role models for both girls and boys through the arts.
Heritage Programme
Funded by The FA, UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 host cities and The National Lottery will celebrate 141 years of women’s football.
The Summer long celebration, across the nine UEFA Women’s EURO host cities was awarded £500,000 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. It will see stories of pioneering women and girls will be recorded for the first time.
Legacy Programme
Across the city we’re already delivering an exciting legacy programme that will benefit communities and bring opportunities in women’s football to all.
Sheffield's legacy programme has the ambition to double the number of FA qualified female coaches & referees in the city, help 140 primary schools provide more opportunities for girls to play football, provide 50% more girls aged 5 - 16 to have a recreational opportunity within 5 miles of their home.
Schools Programme
The UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Schools Programme aims to inspire and unite schools and pupils to get involved with the tournament.
Schools/teachers can sign up to access a digital pack of FREE resources, that have been themed around the Women’s EURO and produced by an educational specialist who has worked closely with teachers to ensure they fit in with the curriculum.
