Discover the secrets of one of the UK’s most likeable cities – and why it might just be your ideal destination. You might be excused for thinking that we fly a little under the radar of other northern metropolises. But the city has long been quietly reinventing itself as the northern capital of cool.
From stylish venues and hip regeneration projects to its wealth of green space and sustainability credentials, Sheffield is a real crowd pleaser. Little wonder we regularly feature in Time Out’s European city breaks guide.
There’s space to breathe here; a third of Sheffield lies with the celebrated Peak District (known locally as our back garden) Sixty-one per cent of the city’s entire area is green space, making us a great destination to find venues with al fresco areas or build outdoor experiences into your event – elements that are likely to remain popular with attendees.
We are Britain’s greenest destination. Sustainability is a top priority for events and Sheffield was ranked the UK’s most eco-friendly city by the nice people researching Natwest’s Green Cities Report ahead of COP26.
Sheffield is part of the UK100 Cities committed to taking climate action. We’re planting 100,000 trees over the next ten years to help achieve our vision to be a zero-carbon city by 2030.
And it’s not just our vision – rest assured that our venues have sustainability at the heart of every event.
We’re really proud of our high-quality venues and hotels which offer something a bit different to the usual suspects. They all have a distinctively Sheffield flavour especially the Winter Garden-Europe’s biggest urban glasshouse.
And did you know…. Our fashionable Kelham Island district (home to uber stylish venues) was named one of the world's 51 coolest neighbourhoods in 2022 by Time Out.
Ready to book? Or just after some advice? We'd love to hear from you.

And there’s more…
It’s difficult to split food and beer in Sheffield- they often go hand in hand. And there’s nothing like a long day at a conference to build up an appetite. Check out new openings and old favourites whether your delegation want to eat together or explore the city themselves.
The city has a super friendly reputation and an ability to make you feel like a local in no time. We’re here to find the right venues and experiences for you and your delegates. Whether you need detailed support or just a chat and some practical advice- we’re just a phone call away. There’s no catch. It’s our job to make it easier for you to bring your event to Sheffield.
We are bursting with ideas to enhance events and social programmes. From food and drink (cheese tasting, chocolate making, microbreweries and Sheffield Gin School) to outdoor activities in the peaks- or a trip to the magnificent Chatsworth House. We’ll find something to suit.
You will find some great ideas for delegates here .

"Having been to all 20 of the EHRS meetings since the first was held in Brussels in 1989, Sheffield has been one of, if not, the best of the lot. The feedback we have received has been pretty spectacular and the delegates really loved the city. The venues were great, they loved the dinner in the Cathedral and having the Lord Mayor at the Winter Garden reception made a big impression."
