Sheffield is full of passionate makers and creators turning their ideas into thriving local businesses. At Business Sheffield, we work alongside them to help those ideas grow by providing practical advice, expert guidance and access to funding like the Productivity Grant to help small businesses reach their next stage.
Frazer Habershon, founder of Frazer’s Coffee Roasters, first heard about Business Sheffield when one of our advisors reached out to introduce our support for local businesses. What began as a simple conversation about opportunities soon turned into a lasting partnership that helped Frazer strengthen and expand his growing coffee brand.
“A lady from Business Sheffield reached out and introduced herself,” explains Frazer. “She explained that Business Sheffield is there to support local industry. She said if there’s anything you want to tidy up, just reach out and we can help you. So I did.”
Frazer’s Coffee Roasters supplies freshly roasted coffee to cafés, restaurants and offices across South Yorkshire. What started as a small roastery built from his passion for coffee has grown into a recognised local business with a loyal following.
With support from Business Sheffield, Frazer received practical, hands-on guidance to make his business more efficient and organised. Our team helped him put the right systems in place for day-to-day operations, from managing HR and customer data to creating clear processes for invoicing and record-keeping.
“They offered structure,” says Frazer. “How to organise the back of house, put systems in place, whether that be managing HR data for customers or how to generate invoices properly.”
As the business continued to grow, Frazer wanted to take the next step: increasing production capacity to meet rising demand from larger clients. With help from Business Sheffield, he successfully applied for the Productivity Grant, which is now helping the business expand.
“We’ve been approved for the Productivity Grant and that’s going to allow us to take the next step,” he says. “We’re currently running a 10kg roaster and the upgrade will take it to a 30kg roaster. That will quadruple our production value, so we can supply more small independent businesses, put Sheffield coffee into Sheffield and connect farmers to end users, all manufactured right here in this city.”
Frazer’s story shows how passion, combined with the right support and funding, can help local entrepreneurs grow stronger and make a bigger impact in Sheffield.
