At Business Sheffield, we’re dedicated to helping organisations across the city plan ahead, grow stronger and achieve lasting success. We do this by supporting businesses to develop clear strategies for growth, from business planning and financial forecasting to mapping out five- and ten-year visions that turn long-term goals into achievable plans. Our advisors work closely with business leaders to identify opportunities, overcome challenges and build the confidence needed to move forward.
Yorkshire Artspace (YAS), has been part of Sheffield’s creative landscape for decades. Established by artist graduates from Sheffield Hallam University in the late 1970s, it became a company in 1995 and continues to provide affordable workspace and professional support for artists, silversmiths and makers across the city.
Working alongside a Business Sheffield advisor, YAS developed a comprehensive business plan to support its future growth and strengthen its long-term strategy. What made the experience particularly valuable was the personal approach our team takes. Business Sheffield advisors spend time getting to know each organisation, understanding its goals and challenges, and tailoring advice that fits its unique vision.
“Business Sheffield have taken the time to get to know us really well and to get under the skin of our organisation,” says Georgina Kettlewell, Director of Yorkshire Artspace. “Their advice has been really critical to us. The most important change has been about developing confidence in our strategies.”
Yorkshire Artspace also received a Digital Innovation Grant through Business Sheffield, which helped them install new digital equipment in their Silverspace workshop — a vital creative space that supports emerging silversmiths with business development and access to professional facilities.
“The Digital Innovation Grant allowed us to modernise our Silverspace workshop and expand the support we offer to emerging silversmiths,” Georgina explains. “It’s made a real difference to the creative community and strengthened the services we provide.”
The partnership has helped Yorkshire Artspace build stronger foundations for growth and feel more connected to Sheffield’s wider business network.
“We’re ambitious about where we can go,” Georgina adds. “Working with Business Sheffield makes me confident that we’re going to get there.”
