Herbs and Hands

Renuka is a medical herbalist and forager who runs public workshops, gives presentations to local groups and holds regular walks in the Peak District. The walks include learning about poisonous plants through solving a murder-mystery puzzle, exploring the historical uses of plants complete with references to Shakespeare and his contemporaries, identifying medicinal plants growing in our hedgerows and fields, learning about trees and how they can communicate with each other.

Workshops include making natural skincare products, natural cordage and dyes and trying out herbal teas with locally gathered edible and medicinal plants. She also holds walks throughout the summer months exploring the herbs and remedies used during the plague in Eyam, as well as regular workshops for Chatsworth House. Recently she set up a collaboration called Be Outdoors in order to work with a range of professional outdoor instructors and offer tailored packages of activities to larger groups and corporate clients. These include wild yoga, meditation and mindfulness, navigation skills and survival techniques. More can be found out about these activities by visiting www.beoutdoors.me.uk

Renuka works from a variety of venues including an outdoor classroom at Eyam. The walks are held at various meeting points in the villages around the Peak District. Please visit the events page at www.herbsandhands.co.uk for further details.
