Henry Seebohm, ornithologist and steelmaker

Speaker Paul Hobson is a professional wildlife photographer living in Sheffield. He has written the definitive biography of the life of Henry Seebohm who was arguably one of the most important personalities in the life of Victorian Sheffield.

A keen ornithologist and steelmaker, he was instrumental in the setting up of many of the Sheffield naturalists groups. By the end of his life, his successful steel company had grown to become one of the larger works in the town and he was certainly the most famous British Ornithologist.

Since his death in 1895, he sank into relative obscurity. It is hoped that this biography helps to illuminate his fantastic life and achievement
