Robots at the Museum

23 May 2026 - 31 May 2026

This May half-term, discover how robots help the 999 services save lives.

From bomb-disposal robots to search-and-rescue technology, robots are used by 999 crews to enter places that are too dangerous for people.

During the holidays, the museum will be filled with hands-on activities exploring these incredible machines.

Children can design and build their own recycled rescue robot in our creative workshop, take on the robot-driving challenge, and try moving and lifting objects robot-style, just like the robotic arms used by the museum's robot.

Follow the robot trail around the museum and see if you can find all the different parts that make a rescue robot work.

Learn amazing facts about real emergency robots, and see the bomb disposal robot on display as you explore the museum.

They’ve created a special robot story for younger visitors, telling the tale of a police robot that helps reach people in need.

All activities are included with normal museum admission, and remember your ticket can be upgraded free of charge on the day into a Year Ticket so you can visit again and again.
