Join PhD student Tobias Gardner as he shares with us his research on Sheffield’s links to slavery in the Americas, between the years 1760 and 1888.

This talk will give a clear overview of his research of Sheffield’s links to slavery. It will show how Sheffield was connected to Atlantic slavery in lots of ways. These ranged from the city’s metal industry and economics to politics and social movements.

There will be opportunities to have a look at some of the material from Sheffield City Archives Toby has been studying.

By taking part, you will learn how to use libraries and archives to find these hidden stories for yourself. And help raise awareness of Sheffield’s broader historical legacy.
