A new nest for craft, community and conversation perched in the heart of Olive Lane, The Canary is more than just a new bar – it’s a passion project built on a love of craft beer, good company, and the vibrant community spirit of Waverley.
The folks behind the bar grew up just a stone’s throw away, and have witnessed the remarkable transformation of the area from the industrial days of Orgreave Mine to the thriving neighbourhood it is today. Inspired by that journey, they couldn’t resist becoming part of the Waverley story and The Canary was born.
Step inside and you’ll find an ever-changing line-up of beers sourced from independent breweries both near and far. From bold local ales to experimental international pours, every visit promises something new.
The Canary is not just about beer, they also curates intriguing wines, distinctive whiskies and an enviable selection of gins and cocktails. Supporting fellow independents is at the heart of their ethos. You can look forward to a rotating line up of local food pop-ups, bringing everything from gourmet street eats to comforting classics right to Olive Lane’s doorstep.
They’re also hatching plans for a lively calendar of events – think quiz nights, DJ sets, cocktail masterclasses, paint-and-sip evenings, and even a resident magician. Perhaps the most striking part of The Canary’s story so far is the warmth of the welcome they have received. The community have embraced their arrival, creating a buzz that suggests this is just the beginning of something special. They genuinely appreciate your support.
Raise a glass, make yourself at home, and watch this space – the Canary has landed, and its song is only just starting.
