Nick Shields – High Street Business Advisor

With over 30 years' experience spanning design, renovation, and brand strategy, I’ve worked across a wide mix of sectors – from interiors and property to sustainable development and community enterprise. I’ve co-founded retail businesses, led creative projects for everything from hydrogen energy to high street renewal, and I bring a hands-on, practical approach to supporting small businesses.

Having previously set up and sold my own independent retail brand, I understand the day-to-day pressures business owners face. I’ve also worked on commercial refurbishments in the UK and France, helped develop outdoor swimming and wellness projects, and supported ethical co-ops with warehouse and retail strategy.

In my role at Business Sheffield, I’m here to listen, offer tailored support, and help connect high street businesses with the right advice and resources – whether that’s around licensing, funding, planning, or just navigating local services.

I'm passionate about regeneration, local enterprise, and helping businesses thrive in changing times.

Over the coming year, I’ll be visiting high street businesses across a rotating list of areas, including: Chapeltown, Page Hall/Fir Vale, Handsworth, Southey Green, Shiregreen, Shirecliffe, Buchanan Road, Parson Cross, Attercliffe Road, Darnall, Firth Park, Tinsley, and Ecclesfield.
