Rob Lawley, Service Manager

Rob Lawley is the Service Manager for Business Sheffield, leading the delivery of programmes that help Sheffield’s businesses start, grow and thrive. Before stepping into this role, Rob worked as a Business Advisor within the service, supporting entrepreneurs and early‑stage businesses across a wide range of sectors.

Rob brings significant real‑world entrepreneurial experience to his leadership having previously built and run a successful leisure business. He grew the venture to a team of 15 employees, steered it through the COVID‑19 pandemic, and still owns the business today. His hands‑on experience navigating the realities of running a business gives him a grounded, empathetic understanding of the challenges faced by Sheffield’s business community.

In his role as Service Manager, Rob oversees Business Sheffield's advisor support, workshop and event delivery, grant programmes, and wider engagement activity. His blend of operational experience, strategic thinking and personable leadership ensures the service remains practical, responsive and rooted in the needs of local businesses.
