Ruth McDonald - Race Equality Lead
Ruth McDonald works with Business Sheffield as the Race Equality Lead, supporting entrepreneurs from Sheffield’s diverse communities to develop their ideas and turn side hustles into sustainable businesses. She works closely with communities across the city, helping people build confidence, access the right support and connect with skilled advisers who can help move their ideas forward.
She is involved in a wide range of diversity-led initiatives and events across the city that celebrate and support Sheffield’s communities, including activity linked to the MOBO Awards. Ruth also contributes to the Diverse Business Advisory Board, helping ensure the voices of underrepresented entrepreneurs help shape how business support is delivered in Sheffield.
Alongside this work, Ruth brings 19 years of experience as a social worker supporting vulnerable families in Sheffield, giving her a strong understanding of the communities she works with.
