Sheffield Antiques Quarter
PLEASE NOTE: We’re currently working hard on a brand-new Welcome to Sheffield website. You’ll still find some great suggestions on these pages, but some of the information may not be up to date. For the most up to date news and ideas for exploring the city, as Sheffield eases out of lockdown restrictions, please see the Make Yourself at Home webpage here.
We'd also recommend you visit the dedicated websites/social media for any Sheffield attractions, accommodation, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs, to see their latest information before visiting. Booking is essential for lots of the city's attractions and hospitality businesses.
Wedged between a triangle of streets just south of the city centre, Sheffield’s Antiques Quarter is full to the brim with tempting treasures, retro finds and quirky independents. From its glittering emporiums to delightful tea rooms tempting you with delicious home baked cakes, it’s easy to lose a couple hours, or even days, in this unique corner of the city.
Eight antique centres map out the quarter’s main trail, while over sixty shops, bars and cafes intermingle to line the streets in between. The city’s oldest cinema, Abbeydale Picture House stands as the iconic epicentre, hosting an eclectic array of cultural events and film screenings. It’s also home to the Pedlar’s Corner Carboot and Flea Market which takes place on every first Sunday of the month with over 70 stalls, while the even larger Antiques Quarter Vintage Market takes place quarterly throughout the year.
Converted from the former ballroom and billiard hall, Picture House Social sits on the lower deck of the building offering an independent venue complete with live music, cocktails, craft beer, games room and Italian inspired street food. No wonder it’s become one of the Quarter’s most visited night time haunts.
The Broadfield Ale House, a traditional Yorkshire boozer serving hand-pressed pies and nearly 1,000 whiskies is also a popular establishment, while those with a penchant for clearer spirits will love The Gin Bar at Vintedge.
