As the cold weather sets in, it's time to cosy up with a hot drink in a snug café and watch the world go by - or head for shelter in a warm, welcoming pub. Luckily, Sheffield has loads of great options to help you make the most of cosy season in the city.

The Cabin

The Cabin is a cosy Canadian pancake and waffle house, located at the bottom of The Moor shopping precinct in Sheffield's City Centre. It can get very busy, especially on weekends, so be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Rhubarb Shed Café

You'll find the Rhubarb Shed on the Manor Green site where the remains of Manor Castle still (built in 1516) - a part of the city with a long history, which currently operates as a very successful social enterprise. Housed in a converted barn, this charming and incredibly friendly cafe delivers a range of delicious food from ciabattas and salads to gourmet burgers and a whole host of specials. There's vegan and gluten free options and a selection of tempting cakes to try. 

Tamper Coffee

Sample a bit of relaxed kiwi café culture at Tamper-Sellers Wheel, a white-washed 19th century former silversmiths in the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter.

Cafe No. 9

Centred all around people, music and coffee, Cafe #9 hold intimate sessions with musicians, as well as being a regular café, with simple but tasty food and drinks.

Hagglers Corner

A community of 14 independent businesses, nestled around a vibrant courtyard & mezzanine, Hagglers is a bit of a Sheffield institution, with a café by day and vibrant bar by night.

The Grind Café

Situated in the heart of Sheffield’s bustling Kelham Island, The Grind Café is an award-winning, independently owned, boutique café and bar, serving expertly brewed coffee, carefully crafted cocktails, tasty treats baked on-site daily, and a delicious menu bursting with flavour.

A seriously cosy and comfy café with welcoming industrial décor, Couch specialise in brunch style dishes. Their all-day breakfast is particularly highly rated, but they also offer offer a tempting line-up cakes and sweet treats too.

Hygge

A scandi style cafe with a really cool interior and always a great atmosphere. Frequented by students, staff, visitors and travellers alike, it's a great place to work, hang out, catch a bit to eat or just re-caffeinate. And yes, it's in a building nicknamed the sugar cube... you'll see why when you get there.

The Three Tuns

The Old Red Lion

The Old Red Lion is a beautiful country style pub at the very edge of Grenoside. With plenty of rustic charm, some good food, and a great selection beers you can't be disappointed, especially if you've been out for a walk in nearby Greno Woods. Live music and events also take place here.

Public

Occupying the former gent’s toilet below the grade-1 listed Victorian town hall, Public is a stunning little haven of fine drinks and delicious food - or as it was once described: "...Wes Anderson train carriage crowbarred into an old bog".

The Old Grindstone

The Old Grindstone serves a great range of lagers, craft beer, cocktails, and spirits and has an amazing Smokehouse food menu.

The Lost & Found

The Lost & Found is a botanically inspired venue that has taken root on Ecclesall Road. Cocktails, sumptuous food and great decor make this a fab place to get a drink on the way to or from the Botanical Gardens and Endcliffe Park, or hang out for the day in.

The Millowners Arms

The Millowners Arms is on the site of the Kelham Island Museum, meaning you've got amazing history plus a beautiful view all around you.

The Nottingham House

The Notty is a friendly pub located at the heart of Broomhill in Sheffield. They are student friendly and have many university sports clubs and associations using the pub as their base and meeting place. They have bands playing regularly on weekend evenings and quiz nights.

The Gardeners Rest
