Empower Her: Film Screening & Panel

05 Mar 2026 18:45 - 22:30

International Women’s Day: Empowerment Panel & Film Screening – Thursday 5th March, 7pm

The evening will begin with a panel of three powerful women reflecting on what empowerment means to them, sharing the experiences and influences that have shaped their journeys.

After the discussion, settle in for a screening of She Said — the acclaimed drama based on the true story of two female journalists who exposed the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse scandal and helped spark the global #MeToo movement.

Guest speakers include Snowdrop Project CEO Rachel Medina, former UoS Nigerian Soc President and aspiring solicitor Ronke Ajisola, and NHS professional Nertila Xhukellari. The panel will be followed by a Q&A and informal networking, giving you the chance to ask our speakers questions.

All proceeds will go to the Snowdrop Project, a Sheffield-based charity supporting survivors of modern slavery. As part of Snowdrop’s Empower Her campaign, the event will highlight modern slavery as a gendered issue —over 80% of Snowdrop’s clients are women.

Doors open at 6:45pm, with the panel starting at 7pm. After a short break to grab popcorn, cakes and hot chocolate, the film will begin at 8pm. If you’re joining just for the film, arriving a little early is encouraged!

Join in supporting an important cause and promoting social justice and women’s empowerment.
