PLEASE NOTE: We’re currently working hard on a brand-new Welcome to Sheffield website. You’ll still find some great suggestions on these pages, but some of the information may not be up to date. For the most up to date news and ideas for exploring the city, as Sheffield eases out of lockdown restrictions, please see the Make Yourself at Home webpage here

We'd also recommend you visit the dedicated websites/social media for any Sheffield attractions, accommodation, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs, to see their latest information before visiting. Booking is essential for lots of the city's attractions and hospitality businesses.

Sheffield’s central district is the beating heart of the city’s culture, nightlife and retail. Over the last 10 years the cityscape has been dramatically transformed as significant regeneration has taken place with striking new architecture sprouting up throughout.

Compared to neighbouring cities, Sheffield’s city centre is a compact one, but we like to think it’s all the friendlier because of this, plus it makes it easy to walk between all the main attractions.

Compact doesn’t necessarily mean compromise though, as the City Centre is rammed to the rafters with great things to see, places to eat, drink and shop, along with a vibrant year-round events programme to keep you entertained. For even more adventuring though, the central district is also really well served with public transport links to other hubs in the city.
