Every year, we love the buzz that the World Snooker Championships brings to Sheffield and the visitors that come from far and wide.

So, if you’re one of those visitors experiencing our city for the first time and are interested in exploring a little beyond the Crucible, we’ve pulled together some top tips to help you with that.

Kapital Beer Hall

Sheffield's biggest modern beer hall and restaurant.! Kapital celebrates Europe’s rich beer culture, championing the iconic beer cities of Brussels, Munich & Prague while also honouring Sheffield’s own prolific brewing heritage.

The Head of Steam

Once the Sheffield & Hallamshire Savings Bank, this stunning venue sits proudly in the centre of Sheffield right on Tudor Square where you’ll find the theatres, the Sheffield Winter Garden and the Millennium Gallery.

Triple Point Brewery & Bar

Triple Point Brewery is one of Sheffield’s must‑visit indie breweries, just minutes from the city centre and train station. They brew award‑winning vegan and gluten‑free craft beer on site, served fresh in their taproom where “the beer comes first.”

Fagan's

Fagan's, formerly the Barrel Inn, is one of the oldest licensed premises in Sheffield, and is known across the World for it's traditional music sessions.

HowSt

Straight up the hill from the train station, opposite Hallam University central campus, sits How St. They make everything fresh from local produce, and have a lovely outdoor terrace where you can spend plenty of time supping on a coffee while you watch folks wander past.

Albie's Coffee

Albie's Coffee is an independent coffee company built from their neighbourhood shop. They pride themselves on a friendly welcome and quality brews.

Steam Yard

Located along one of Sheffield’s liveliest indie districts, Steam Yard has a cool atmosphere and great outdoor seating area.

2323

2323 is a multi-roaster speciality coffee shop and is owned by Joe Anderton and Lauren Briggs. Located on Norfolk Row, they offer a unique and personalised coffee experience.

Mow's Coffee

Mow's Coffee is a little inner city independent coffee hangout at the front of Laundry for Hair at Sellers Wheel, serving up excellent coffee and anytime eating seven days a week.

Sheffield Plate

Sheffield Plate is a foodhall specialising in hosting street food vendors with cuisine from around the world. It's slap bang in the middle of Orchard Square, in the centre of the city, and has a lively atmosphere across the 2 bars and 6 vendor spaces.

Cambridge Street Collective

Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall, Cambridge Street Collective is a ‘one of a kind’ foodie destination to meet, eat, and share in Sheffield. Showcasing the very best in up-and-coming food and drink talent, they house over 20 different food vendors offering exciting cuisine from around the globe.

BOX Sheffield

If you’re looking for the ultimate place to watch sport in Sheffield, welcome to BOX - a game‑changing sports bar in the heart of the city where you can watch, play, party, eat and drink.

Stretch your legs

If you fancy a nice walk to shake off the cobwebs and chalk-dust there are several interesting places that are just a short distance from the city centre, easy to walk to and well worth a look. 



Norfolk Heritage Park

Norfolk Heritage Park is a unique inner-city green space consisting of 28 hectares of Grade II* listed historic parkland with some amazing views over the city.

The park has a long history, as it is one of the oldest public parks in the country. It is a wonderful mix of rolling grass areas, impressive tree-line avenues and wild woodland with the character of a traditional country estate.

Park Hill

Once a utopian social housing project in the same mould as the Barbican in London, complete with its own shops, police station, school and even morgue, Park Hill became rundown after the national appetite for housing estates changed.

Now, Urban Splash are now mid-way through their total redevelopment of one of the dominating features of the city’s skyline.

Victoria Quays

Victoria Quays is a large canal basin, close to Sheffield City Centre, that heads up the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal.

Located on the edge of the Castlegate Quarter, it's a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect on a sunny day, enjoy the waterfront with a drink or a bite to eat from the Dorothy Pax, True Loves and Victoria Junction Café.

Kelham Island

Once the beating heart of industry, Kelham Island is one of Sheffield’s oldest manufacturing sites, formed over 900 years ago, when a stream was diverted to power a nearby mill.

This manmade island was at the very forefront of the Industrial Revolution in the 1900s, but as times changed, industrial activity moved away, leaving the remains of numerous cutlery and steel works, factories and workshops.

Five Weirs Walk

The Five Weirs Canal Walk is a surfaced path and cycleway starting from Lady's Bridge, at Grey to Green in the Castlegate district of the city centre.

It stretches for 7.5 km along the River Don to the Meadowhall shopping centre, passing the five historic weirs from which it takes its name.
