We are part of Sheffield City Council in the 'City Futures' department, and are therefore funded by public sector budgets. Our aim is to achieve growth for the city - in the widest sense of the word.
Whilst economic growth is the most tangible measure of this, place branding is also about the intangibles, and so we work with community organisations, cultural providers, educational institutions and many other private and public stakeholders on collaborative projects that seek to promote the city as an inclusive, progressive and unique place for people to live and work in, as well as visit.

Diana oversees Marketing Sheffield as part of her role as Director of Economic Development and Culture. She is passionate about ensuring the city is recognised far and wide as an exemplar case for our sector specialisms, and that our inward investment can go hand in hand with the development of our cultural offer.
Mark is the Marketing Manager for City Campaigns, meaning his role spans the full 'trade, tourism and talent' spectrum as the designated place brand manager for the city who works with multiple stakeholders to ensure the best version of Sheffield is put forward and the city has as many advocates as possible.
Emma is our Business Tourism manager, meaning she looks after the Conference Sheffield team in working with venues and businesses in the city to offer a free service to conference and event organisers looking to come to Sheffield. Since the pandemic Emma has also stepped into a communications role for Business Sheffield too.
Wendy leads on all aspects of the visitor economy at Marketing Sheffield. That can be marketing activity focussed on bringing more visitors into Sheffield, supporting travel writers and content creators to craft their words or working with major event organisers and local experts to integrate services that provide a positive visitor experience.
Kate is our Communications Executive and carries out a number of roles including content production, press and campaign work. Her most significant responsibility is managing Marketing Sheffield's core social media accounts across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This includes @VisitSheffield, @TheOutdoorCity and @MarketingSheffield.
Steve is our Content Officer who assists across the Marketing Sheffield team with a vast array of duties, including website maintenance, asset production, design and artworking, and content creation.
