Explore this unique Victorian ‘Garden Cemetery’, designed in the style of a landscaped park, and uncover the stories of the people buried here – from industrialist Mark Firth and reformer Samuel Holberry, to sweetmaker George Bassett and the founders of Cole Brothers (now John Lewis).
With over 87,000 burials, the Cemetery is a remarkable gateway into the city’s rich past. You’ll visit the striking French-inspired catacombs, hear the tales behind our listed monuments and memorials, and see the recently restored Samuel Worth Chapel, now a thriving cultural space.
After the tour, visit the Samuel Worth Chapel for a free cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate – the café and bookstall will be open from 11.00am-1.15pm.
