Open Mic Night

Open Mic Night is Utopia Theatre’s platform for celebrating talent and creativity in Sheffield. This free monthly event offers a golden opportunity for both emerging and established creatives to share their art with a supportive and enthusiastic audience. Attendees can expect the usual Sunday evening sessions filled with inspiration and creativity in a vibrant, inclusive space.

The theatre’s new bar offering, artist exhibitions, and spotlight features have been a roaring success in recent months. Creativity and refreshments flow freely, with a new selection of cold beers, wines, and soft drinks available. The spotlight performances promise to bring the heat—now all that’s missing is the audience and performers themselves.

Utopia Theatre is committed to ensuring that creatives from all backgrounds and disciplines have a platform to share their work, with a particular focus on those from underrepresented groups in the arts. Performers of all skill levels are welcome, making it an ideal space to begin a creative journey or grow an existing audience.

Participants are encouraged to keep performances between 5–10 minutes to allow as many people as possible to showcase their work. While the team does its best to accommodate everyone, the event is typically a sell-out, and performance slots cannot be guaranteed on the night.

Newcomers who require specialist equipment are advised to visit the venue ahead of time to ensure their needs can be met. To continue delivering high-quality events, Utopia Theatre invites those who are able to make a recommended donation of £5 to support the charity.
