Sheffield Home of Football - Football's Historic City Centre - Guided Walk

During the walk attendees will be hearing about and visiting the locations where: the 1st ever Rules of Football for the modern game were written; the 1st football club to play those rules was formed; the team captain of the first ever knockout football tournament in the world lived; The Wednesday FC was formed; Sheffield United FC was formed; Yorkshire County Cricket Club was formed; the lease for Bramall Lane Cricket Ground was agreed.

The tour will also pass places associated with the origins of 1st ever Catholic football teams in the world; the 1st team in the world to be formed by a public house; the 1st works team; the origins of the game for the ‘common people’; plus several important personalities who helped establish Sheffield as the ‘crucible’ of modern football, not only in England but across the world.
