Thinking Ahedge - Planting with Friends of Whirlow Brook Park S11 9QD
Come to Whirlow Brook Park and help plant 60m wildlife friendly, mixed native hedge.
All welcome. Family friendly. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Sorry no dogs.
No previous experience necessary.
Two trenches have been dug and back-filled so not heavy work.
Itinerary (approx):
10.00: What and why. Tool talk
10.15: Choose a bag of whips (8 per metre) and get planting!
11.00: Drinks. Biscuits, cake or flapjack available
11.15 Back to work, finishing with watering and mulching (or quit if you've had enough)
12:00 Finish.

What to Bring:
Please bring a bottle of water to care for your mini-trees and a reusable cup for your drinks. Wear warm, waterproof clothes and sturdy boots or wellies. Waterproof trousers are useful. Tools and (adult) gloves provided.
Accessibility:
Sorry, the site is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. The ground slopes slightly, is uneven, muddy and slippery.
Getting there:
The nearest entrance to the planting site is on the crescent off Ecclesall Road South, just in front of the park gates. Free street parking.

Please follow signs via a short woodland walk to the new orchard.
By bus - the 81, 272 and 65 buses from the city centre stop just in front of the park entrance.
